What is “Mass Shooting Prevention Act of 2023“?
To summarize:
- Ban on manufacturing, possessing, or transferring an “assault weapon.”
- Updated definition of “Assault Weapon,” which includes nearly all semi-auto firearms.
- Grandfather clause: Gun owner must surrender his/her firearms to peace officer(s) unless he/she can prove ownership before the ban date upon request at any given time.
- July 1, 2023, is the effective date.
