The US Congress and Senate just passed a bill dropping the $200 NFA tax stamp fee for suppressors, SBRs, and similar items—but they’re still under the NFA, so registration and background checks still apply.
In Colorado, those items are only legal if they’re federally registered. Since the NFA still exists (just without the fee), you’re still covered and legal under state law. But if the Feds ever fully remove these items from the NFA, Colorado law could suddenly make you a felon unless the state updates its definitions.
Bottom Line:
The tax is gone, but the process is still in place.
Colorado can’t touch you—as long as the item stays on the NFA list.
