Here’s the Problem (And It’s a Big One)

Colorado law currently says that suppressors are illegal unless you own them under federal NFA rules. So if the feds scrap those rules?

Colorado Revised Statutes § 18-12-102 defines silencers as dangerous weapons. Under current law, possession of such items is a felony unless they are legally registered under federal law. Without federal registration requirements, the state could interpret possession as unlawful.

Your suppressor might become illegal overnight.

That’s not just a headache. That’s a felony. All because the state never bothered to update its laws.

The Feds Give Us Freedom, and the State Might Take It Away?

Yup. Pretty much. If this bill becomes law and Colorado doesn’t step up, you could:

• Lose the ability to buy suppressors legally
• Get stuck with NFA items you can’t sell or even own
• Risk felony charges just for keeping what you already paid for and registered LEGALLY

We hate to say “it’s complicated,” but yeah… it’s complicated and dangerous

Be Ready…

Here’s what suppressor and NFA owners in Colorado should do now:

1.Call your state reps – Ask them to fix this mess. There are already rumors they may add a grandfather clause to avoid running afoul of the Fifth Amendment’s protections against uncompensated ban.

2.Join groups such as CSSA, RMGO, NRAILA, or GOA – They’re already fighting this fight, but the more noise we make, the better.

3.Check in with your local dealer – They might have insight or recommendations on what to do if the bill passes. We are watching this very closely.

4.Make a plan – If the worst happens, don’t wait to figure out what to do with your NFA items

5.Spread the word – Most people haven’t even thought this far ahead. Help your fellow gun owners out.
